Mubarak Munyagwa has come out swinging just days after unveiling the Common Man’s Party, accusing some opposition figures of being too comfortable in their positions and resistant to new players.

Speaking during an interview on Next Radio following Tuesday’s launch, the former Kawempe South MP made it clear that his party’s goal is not to join the crowd but to shake up Uganda’s political scene.

“Unfortunately, some of our opposition members are in a comfort zone, so whoever they see emerging, they think that he is coming in to take them out of their position,” Munyagwa said.

He added that the Common Man’s Party isn’t interested in forming alliances just to remain in opposition.

“We have launched this campaign to take power, not to be the opposition,” he declared.

His remarks have sparked debate within political circles, with some interpreting his statements as a jab at long-standing opposition parties that have struggled to convert popularity into actual governance.

Munyagwa’s criticism reflects growing frustration among Ugandans who feel the opposition has become stagnant, recycling the same faces without clear strategies to win elections or address pressing issues.

As Uganda heads toward the 2026 polls, Munyagwa’s party enters the fray with a bold claim: they are not just another political startup—they want the seat of power. Whether they can deliver remains to be seen
