Ivory Coast, Gabon to battle for top spot
Ivory Coast will lock horns with Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Friday, 7 June.
Kick-off is at 21h00 CAT.
The Group F match will be played at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium in a city located in the northern Ivory Coast, Korhogo.
The Elephants of Ivory Coast were last in action on 26 March as they claimed a 2-1 win over Uruguay in an international friendly match.
Ivory Coast collected six points from their first two matches in Group F as they secured back-to-back victories over DR Congo and Niger.
The African champions are currently placed at the top of Group F standings – level on points with second-placed Gabon.
Having scored against DR Congo and Niger, Seko Fofana will be determined to inspire his side to a third successive victory in the group.
Meanwhile, the last time Gabon were in action was in an international friendly match against Congo-Brazzaville as the two sides drew 1-1 on 25 March.
The Panthers of Gabon have six points from their first two matches in Group F which sees them placed second in the standings – three points above fourth-placed Burundi.
Gabon edged out Kenya in their first Group F match before the Panthers made it two victories in a row when they overcame Burundi.
Denis Bouanga – who scored against Kenya and Burundi – will be looking to hit the back of the net once again and help his side claim a win in Ivory Coast.
