“I’m Here to Deliver National Transformation,” Says Jonard Asiimwe in NRM Western Vice Chairperson Bid

Eng.Jonard Asiimwe has said he will champion a western-led by nation-impacting transformation as the NRM vice chairperson for Western Uganda.
Speaking while unveiling his manifesto at his offices in Kampala, the 37 year old businessman said he is ready to unseat the incumbent and Minister for ICT, Dr.Chris Baryomunsi by championing the NRM manifesto.
“I step forward not to chart a new course, but strengthen, deepen and deliver further on the NRM’s great legacy. At times like this, our country is looking to secure continuity, appreciating the elder’s efforts under the guidance of President Museveni, “ Eng.Asiimwe told journalists.
He mentioned expanding agricultural commercialization and value chain access to contribute to a 40% reduction in post-harvest losses by supporting farmers to transition from subsistence to commercial agriculture through cooperative-based models, integrated value chain financing, storage facilities and marketing cooperatives in rural areas.
He also spoke about creating more than 2,000 new jobs and facilitating over 250 digital innovations to enter the African Continental Free Trade Area market by establishing regional youth innovation hubs throughout the country.
Eng.Asiimwe also mentioned operationalising talent-to market alliances in sports and arts to empower at least 5,000 youth with income generating platforms while supporting branding for local and export markets.
“This will be done through the operationalization of 20 regional talent clubs and creative industry facilities to nurture sports, music and fashion entrepreneurship,” he said.
According to Asiimwe, his experience in form of sponsoring local football teams including Mbale Heroes and Kitara FC in the Uganda Premier League will come in handy.
He also spoke of unlocking the country’s mineral wealth, establishment of border trade and market formalization academies, mobilizing a local content innovation fund with shs50 billion capitalization and civic and ideological education as part of his agenda.
Eng.Asiimwe said all this will be done in alignment with the NRM manifesto and the National Development Plan.
“My manifesto draws from the robust socio-economic foundation laid out in the NRM manifesto, Vision 20240 and the third and fourth national development plans and other relevant policies that stand for people’s prosperity and purpose driven leadership.”
He said he brings a “unique generational advantage” that is needed to the NRM Central Executive Committee.
“I stand at a prime age, mature enough, yet youthful enough in spirit , energy and connection to mobilise and inspire the rising generation.”
During the function, Jessica Mwijuka, the workers’ councillor for Mbarara City, John Magara, the NRM delegate for Rakai, Paul Lokwii, aspiring workers league chairperson for Karamoja and Brian Tunura, the NRM secretary for Bunyoro subregion endorsed Eng.Asiimwe’s candidature.
