Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills Chartered, Pledges to Transform Slums

KAMPALA – The Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills has been officially chartered in a colorful ceremony held at Forest Park Muyenga, with top Rotary officials pledging support for the club's ambitious agenda to uplift slum communities.
Presided over by Rotary District 9214 Governor Christine Kawooya Kyeyune, the event brought together club members, donors, and regional Rotary leaders who praised the club’s vision and commitment to service.
In his remarks, Charter President Mr. Kakooza Joseph outlined a bold plan to build a four-storey education facility and modern health centre in one of Kampala's slum areas.
The planned hospital will be named the CKK Hospital in honor of District Governor Kyeyune, whom he credited for her unwavering dedication to community service.
“Our mission is to transform slum areas by addressing critical needs such as maternal health and education,” Kakooza said.
“The naming of the hospital after DG Christine Kawooya Kyeyune is a tribute to her leadership and compassion.”
District Governor Kyeyune praised the club's youthful membership and drive.
“I thank the charter president for assembling young and energetic Rotarians. Let us serve above self and ensure that our projects are impactful and sustainable, especially in areas like maternal health and education,” she said.
In a major boost to the club's future plans, Mr Hannison Mulangira Kayondo, a leading donor and club member, donated five acres of land to support upcoming community projects.
The gesture was met with applause, with both the charter president and DG Kyeyune expressing deep gratitude.
Club advisor Dr Bildad Baguma urged members to remain steadfast and focused on impact-driven initiatives.
He encouraged them to attend the District Conference scheduled for April 2026 in Munyonyo, calling it a valuable opportunity for networking and capacity building.
Rotary International Director Emmanuel Katongole, who graced the occasion as guest of honor, pledged his full support to the new club.
“Your vision is noble, and I am here to assure you of my continued support as you implement projects that change lives,” Katongole said.
Also present was the Director of Membership, Salongo Ssemata Munagomba, who expressed joy at the club’s official formation.
"It is fulfilling to see this dream come to life. The Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills is here to stay, grow, and make a real difference,” he remarked.
