New Rotary Club Honours District Governor with Planned Hospital

A newly chartered Rotary club in Kampala has pledged to build a state-of-the-art hospital named after Rotary District Governor Christine Kawooya Kyeyune, as a tribute to her exemplary leadership and service to community health.
Speaking at the official chartering of the Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills at Forest Park Muyenga, Charter President Joseph Kakooza announced that the hospital—along with a four-storey education facility—will be central to the club’s mission of improving access to healthcare and education in underserved communities.
The hospital will be named CKK Hospital in honor of DG Kawooya.
“These facilities are not just buildings,” Kakooza said. “They represent our commitment to changing lives and expanding hope, particularly in maternal health and child welfare.”
District Governor Kawooya, visibly moved by the announcement, encouraged club members to remain grounded in Rotary values of service, especially in addressing maternal and educational needs, which remain acute in many Ugandan communities.
The ceremony was attended by Rotary International Director Emmanuel Katongole, who challenged members to embrace the journey of growth, innovation, and sustainability.
“Start small, grow big, and scale up,” he advised, citing the long road to establishing Quality Chemicals as an example of purposeful ambition.
The club’s development plans received a major boost from philanthropist and club member Mulangira Kayondo Hanson, who donated five acres of land to support the envisioned hospital and school project.
Rotary leaders hailed the club’s youth-driven membership, with Director of Membership Salongo Ssemata Munagomba and Club Advisor Dr Bildad Baguma emphasizing mentorship, resilience, and active participation in district initiatives—including the 2026 District Conference in Munyonyo.
While newly formed, the Rotary Club of Muyenga Forest Hills has made clear its intent: to be a hub of impactful service, with projects that outlast the moment and honor those who inspire transformative change.
