Arsenal To Reportedly Make One Big Signing On One Condition

As Arsenal continue to fine-tune their squad for the 2025/26 season, it has become increasingly clear that any major first-team addition is likely to come in the left-wing position. The club has already reinforced other key areas this summer, but attention is now shifting toward the forward line — particularly the left flank — where competition and uncertainty are beginning to converge.

While Bukayo Saka remains untouchable on the right wing, the left is less settled. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have shared duties in that role over the past season, but both now face uncertain futures at the club. Arsenal are not actively pushing either player out, but they are open to evaluating options — especially if an attractive offer arrives that can fund a more tailored signing for Mikel Arteta’s system.

Martinelli, 23, is widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most exciting wingers. His explosive pace, directness and ability to stretch defences have made him a valuable asset. However, his form dipped in the second half of last season, and injuries disrupted his rhythm. Though the club still believes in his long-term potential, interest from abroad — particularly from La Liga — has prompted internal conversations about whether now might be the right time to cash in if the fee is right.

Trossard, meanwhile, is entering a critical stage of his Arsenal career. The 29-year-old Belgium international has been a valuable utility player since his arrival from Brighton, contributing goals and experience from various attacking positions. Yet he is understood to be open to a new challenge, especially if regular starts cannot be guaranteed. Borussia Dortmund and a few Premier League clubs have expressed interest, and Arsenal could view his potential sale as a way to raise funds.

This is where the opportunity arises.

Arsenal are keeping close tabs on a number of left-wing targets who could offer something slightly different: more consistency in final-third decision-making, greater one-on-one ability, or simply a new attacking profile to refresh Arteta’s options. Eberechi Eze has been linked and, though more of a hybrid wide playmaker, he could fit the bill in Arteta’s flexible attacking structure. Other names have been considered quietly as Arsenal explore the market.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is believed to be working in close alignment with Arteta and the recruitment team to identify a left-winger who fits the club’s philosophy — someone with technical ability, end product, and the intelligence to adapt to Arsenal’s positional demands in and out of possession.

Any move for a new winger is likely to be shaped by what happens with Martinelli and Trossard in the coming weeks. Should either be sold, Arsenal would have both the financial capacity and the squad space to push ahead for a signing.

For now, the left wing remains the position to watch. It may well be where Arsenal make their most decisive move of the summer
