Ssekajja faces life in prison if convicted of defilement
Ssekajja Abdul, the fiancé of Chosen Becky, is facing serious legal trouble after allegations emerged that he was involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl.
The claims were raised by Ssekajja’s ex-girlfriend, with whom he shares two children.
She reported the matter to Minister Balaam Barugahara, accusing Ssekajja not only of neglecting his parental responsibilities but also of impregnating her when she was just 16 years old, a case that falls under defilement.
Speaking on Spark TV, city lawyer Denis noted the gravity of the offense, explaining that defilement carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment if one is found guilty.
Defilement is a capital offense. It has no option for a fine because it’s about protecting society. Once convicted, the offender is removed from the community and sent to prison for a long time.
The allegations come shortly after Ssekajja’s engagement to Chosen Becky, throwing the couple into the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
Legal experts say if the case proceeds and Ssekajja is found guilty, the consequences could be life-changing
