UCC ED Hon Nyombi ,CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba Discuss Security,Communication Means Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Executive Director, Nyombi Thembo, together with a team of technical staff from the commission, met today with the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, to discuss enhanced security measures for the country’s communications infrastructure. The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.
Mr. Thembo and his technical team briefed the CDF, who also serves as the Senior Presidential Adviser for Special Operations, on UCC’s operational strategies and ongoing initiatives. The discussions also explored potential areas of collaboration between the regulatory body and Uganda’s security agencies to ensure a safe and reliable communications environment for all Ugandans.
The UCC delegation included specialists from several technical departments, underlining the comprehensive nature of the talks. Issues discussed covered telecommunications, data communications, broadcasting, and infrastructure security—all aimed at protecting Uganda’s communications systems from possible threats and ensuring seamless service delivery.
As Uganda’s integrated regulatory authority, UCC oversees postal communication, radio communication, as well as licensing of cinematography operations. By strengthening partnerships with the military and other security organs, the commission seeks to reinforce the safety and resilience of national communications infrastructure.
