Museveni questions Cranes’ goalkeeper over match blunder
The Uganda Cranes CHAN 2024 team visited the President of Uganda, H.E. Kaguta Yoweri Museveni, at the State House in Entebbe on Wednesday.
Part of their visit was to celebrate their achievements at the recently concluded African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) tournament, at which the Cranes reached the quarterfinals.
While engaging with the players, there was a rather hilarious moment captured of President Museveni questioning the goalkeeper, Joel Mutakubwa, about his infamous blunder during the match against South Africa.
“What had happened to your fullback? Why did you have to come from your penalty area and fail to catch the ball?” President Museveni asked.
In his defence, Mutakubwa noted how he must have been caught in the heat of the moment.
President Museveni, however, applauded Mutakubwa’s efforts through the tournament, referring to him as a “very good goalkeeper” who made several “very serious saves.”
