Singer Eddy Kenzo has opened up about his troubled childhood and paternity, revealing that a DNA test proved the man he grew up calling father was not his biological parent.

The revelation comes after President Yoweri Museveni linked his real father to former UPDF Chief of Staff, Eriya Mwine aka Chefe Ali.

On Sunday, Kenzo shared painful details about his early life of hardship and uncertainty.

People who knew Kenzo’s mother told him he was born sometime between 1989 and 1999. His mother was from Rwanda, and he was born shortly after the NRA bush war.

Kenzo explained that he spent little of his early childhood with his mother, which left him knowing very little about her.

He however, added that the time he saw his mother for about five years, she was with another man and they had children together, which made him believe that man was his father.

The award winning musician said he started taking care of himself at the age of 6.

As he grew up, Kenzo said several people presented different pieces of evidence that seemed to align, which compelled to exhume a bone from the grave of his stepfather, Mzee Hassan, for a DNA test.

The results turned out negative.

“I am a hustler; I grew up on the streets and began fending for myself at just six years old,” he said
