Three Muni University killed in Pakwach–Arua highway crash

Three Muni University officials were killed in a road crash along the Pakwach–Arua highway.
The Saturday morning accident occurred at Nyapolo village in Alwi sub-county, Pakwach district, and involved a Toyota double-cabin pickup (registration number UBF 850H) belonging to the university and a Sino truck (registration number UAW 523Z) operated by China 18th Railway Construction Company.
The university vehicle, driven by Kennedy Acidri, reportedly collided head-on with the truck. Acidri died on the spot along with Washington Opio, the university’s senior sports officer, and Rev. Patrick Acema, the institution’s chaplain.
According to Jimmy Anguyo, the West Nile regional police spokesperson, two other occupants of the double cabin, Oriba Bruno and Enayo Victor, survived the crash.
They were first taken to Pakwach health centre IV before being transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu for specialised treatment. Police say investigations are underway to establish the exact cause of the collision
