Kamuli, Uganda: The Territorial Police in Kamuli District have launched investigations into the gruesome murder of a 16-year-old student, Kisakye Resty, a Senior Three student of St. Andrews Secondary School, Kiyunga.

According to Busoga North Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Samson Lubega, the case was first reported at Kiyunga Police Post in Bugonde Parish, Mbulamuti Subcounty, Kamuli District.

Preliminary reports suggest the deceased may have fallen victim to individuals who lured her through a radio advert promising wealth and riches.

Police say Kisakye reportedly sent UGX 400,000 to the unknown suspects, money she allegedly stole from her uncle’s home. About a week later, she disappeared and was last seen on October 17, 2025, attending a local function in a nearby village.

Her lifeless body was discovered the following morning in a sugarcane plantation by residents who had gone to weed their crops. Officers from Kamuli Central Police Station immediately responded, documented the scene, and recovered several exhibits believed to be linked to the crime.

The body was conveyed to Kamuli General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.

While no arrests have been made, police have intensified intelligence and forensic efforts to trace and apprehend the perpetrators behind what they described as a heinous crime.

Lubega urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with the investigative team by providing any useful information that could help bring the culprits to justice.
