Reckless Driver Ends Woman’s Life In A Car Accident Along Kampala -Jinja Highway
A tragic road accident occurred on the morning of October 24, 2025, at around 9:00 a.m. at Lands Junction along the Kampala–Jinja Highway in Mukono Municipality, Mukono District. The crash involved a Mercedes Benz semi-trailer registration number SSD 842Z/SSD 336Z, driven by 45-year-old Ibrahim Abdullahi, a Somali national who was traveling toward Sudan.
According to police reports, the trailer allegedly hit an unidentified motorcycle rider who was overtaking from the left side of the road and suddenly braked. This reckless move caused one of the motorcycle passengers, identified as 43-year-old Namulondo Mary, to fall off and get trapped under the rear left tire of the trailer. Unfortunately, she died instantly at the scene.
Police have attributed the cause of the accident to reckless riding by the unidentified motorcycle rider, who fled the scene and remains at large. The motorcycle involved is also missing, as efforts to trace both the rider and the bike continue.
The Mercedes Benz semi-trailer has since been impounded and parked at Mukono Police Yard pending mechanical inspection. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Kawolo Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue into the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
Police have urged all road users, especially motorcyclists, to exercise caution and observe traffic regulations to prevent such tragic accidents.
