Back On The Job!! Full Figure Apologies to UCC ED Over Valguar Language During Morning Talk Show.
Popular Salt TV presenter Jenifer Namutebi Nakangubi, widely known as Full Figure, has publicly apologized to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Executive Director, Hon. Nyombi Thembo, for using inappropriate language during her morning talk show, Omusunsuzi. The apology followed a meeting held at the UCC head offices in Bugolobi, Kampala.
The meeting was attended by officials from UCC and top management from Salt Media. It was organized after UCC suspended the Omusunsuzi programme over violations of broadcasting standards. The show, which airs in the morning hours, had raised concerns because of the use of vulgar language during a time slot accessible to children.
During the meeting, UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo emphasized the need for all broadcasters to respect content regulations and maintain professionalism on air. He said that morning shows must promote decency and avoid language that could negatively influence young viewers.
Hon. Nyombi noted that the session with Salt Media was constructive and that both sides discussed ways to improve the quality of their programmes. He said the management team of Salt Media showed a strong willingness to follow broadcasting rules and take corrective steps to prevent future incidents.
Full Figure, who attended the meeting in person, expressed deep regret for her actions and apologized to UCC and the public. She acknowledged that her words were inappropriate and assured the Commission that she would be more careful in future broadcasts.
She also revealed that she is ready to undergo professional media training to improve her presentation and communication skills. Full Figure said she wants to ensure that her show aligns with national broadcasting standards and provides informative, respectful, and family-friendly content.
Hon. Nyombi welcomed her commitment and described the meeting with her as “especially rewarding.” He said it was encouraging to see Full Figure take responsibility and show a genuine desire to grow professionally. “She expressed a wish to pursue further training to enhance her professionalism, and we will support her,” he said.
Salt Media management also pledged to organize editorial and ethical training for all its staff members. They said the training will help improve their journalistic standards and promote responsible broadcasting across all programs.
UCC commended Salt Media for its positive attitude and teamwork, noting that cooperation between the regulator and broadcasters is key to promoting responsible and ethical content in Uganda’s media industry.
In conclusion, Hon. Nyombi applauded both Salt Media and Full Figure for choosing dialogue over confrontation. He said the Commission’s goal is not to punish but to guide broadcasters toward better performance. “I’m glad to see the host and her team working together to improve. That’s the spirit of responsible broadcasting,” he added
