Social media users have been left stunned after discovering that Lamine Yamal's dad is younger than one of the wonderkid's Spain team-mates.

Yamal, 17, has lit up Euro 2024 and inspired his country to tonight's final where they will face England in a blockbuster showdown in Berlin.

Defying his tender age, the forward has scored one goal, a sensational curling effort against France in the semi-finals, and registered three assists.

Head coach Luis de la Fuente opted for a startling blend of youth and experience in their last match, having started Yamal and right back Jesus Navas.

Navas, formerly of Manchester City and now 38 years old, combined sharply with Yamal despite the staggering 22-year age gap between both players.

And it has now been revealed that Navas is in fact older than Yamal's father.

Indeed, it is understood that Mounir Nasraoui is 35, three years younger than Navas - and this mind-blowing statistic has left fans, and Joey Barton, gobsmacked.

'Lamine Yamal's dad (35) is younger than the fellow who started right back, Jesus Navas (38), for Spain,' Barton posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Another wrote: 'Lamine Yamal's dad is younger than Jesus Navas. Let that sink in...'

'Someone said that Yamal's dad is 35,' a third account said. 'Two years younger than me. His DAD. I feel sick.'

'Yamal's DAD being three years younger than Jesus Navas is insane,' another said.

The 'Football Tweet' account then pointed out that Yamal's dad is only a couple of months older than Kyle Walker, who will line up for England in today's final.

Incredibly, Yamal was just two years old when Navas made his Spain debut in 2009 and only three during Spain's World Cup triumph the following year.

Despite his son becoming the youngest player ever to feature at the European Championship, Yamal Snr has insisted he will not be fazed by the final.

'It's incredible, he's a good strategist. It's an honour, as a father and a person, to see,' Nasraoui said. 'He's a boy who has things under control.'

He then went on to add: 'He focuses on other more important things, because life… personal wellbeing is most important
