Museveni Praises Cheptegei For Investing Wisely, Tours His Mega Hotel Project In Kapchorwa
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has hailed world champion Joshua Cheptegei for putting his athletic earnings to productive use by investing in a hotel project in Kapchorwa District.
During a stopover between campaign rallies in the Sebei region, the President toured the facility, commending Cheptegei for being a model of responsible wealth management and patriotism.
“I congratulate and thank Joshua Cheptegei for not squandering his earnings from his talent and hard work. He is putting up a hotel in Kapchorwa, which I was glad to tour between rallies in the Sebei region,” Museveni said in a post on X.
The President described the project as a prime example of how Ugandans can use land productively to create jobs and income, especially in areas less prone to natural disasters.
“This is a good example of how to use land productively while creating jobs and income, away from the highlands that are prone to landslides. It is exactly what I was talking about earlier—using the lowlands for investment and wealth creation,” he added.
Cheptegei, Uganda’s most decorated long-distance runner and a global athletics icon, has over the years championed development initiatives in Sebei, including sports facilities and community projects aimed at uplifting youth.
Museveni’s remarks tie into his broader message during the Sebei campaign trail, where he has repeatedly urged residents to embrace wealth creation through sustainable land use and productive enterprise.
