Commentary: As others Preach peace, NUP prepares for Anarchy .
As we get into the last 45 days of the 2025/2026 Presidential election campaign, the populist-anarchist elements are back in full force with only one design – the creation of anarchy and conflict in Uganda for the sole benefit of the imperialist capitalist machine!
This election has eight formidable candidates. All but one, the NUP’s Bobi Wine – have held engaging yet peaceful and respectful campaigns. We have seen the ANT candidate Gen. Mugisha Muntu engaging citizens on the streets in various places, Jinja road, Kisenyi and downtown Kampala, Mitooma where he had the widely published interaction with two specified ladies. We have also seen Mubarak Munyagwa in similar style and fashion. The significance of these interactions is that they all happened in the busy City and town centers but did not interfere with the business and work of the citizens and did not met violence and thuggery against the population. They respected the law.
The NRM candidate the incumbent Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has held large and colorful rallies that have, if not anything else, demonstrated the organizational acumen, leadership and the political muscle of not only the candidate H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, but also of the NRM.
As seen in Mitooma and the interaction with the ANT candidate, the population has over the years gained political maturity. They demand to know exactly what plans the leaders have for them and are not inclined to personal attacks on opponents, sowing seeds of instability or even blame games. Indeed, it is also clear that the population appreciates the value of peace, security, stability and the value of an honest days’ work.
The NRM candidate has maintained characteristic focus on the ideology and message of the NRM and has, not once, attacked any of the opponents. This cannot be said of the other candidates.
Yet the more disturbing aspects of this campaign remain on the undercurrents of calls to anarchy with messages and mobilization particularly led by and from the NUP fundamentalist camps.
In the recent weeks we have witnessed clear calls to anarchy in the build up to their anticipated Kampala and Wakiso campaigns. Social media has been awash with direct threats to security personal and calls to burn the cities and towns. The mobilization for used tyres and mobilization to acquire match boxes is being done systematically as it was done in 2020.
There is a clear call to attack and harm security personnel, instructions on how to use weapons and immobilize the cities and town centers. The NUP and its leadership have continued to use various types of fatigues and restricted wear and launched direct attacks on the security personnel (as we saw in Mbarara), and the use of spiked knuckle gloves against security personnel in Kiruhura.
In Mbarara, the NUP Candidate Bobi Wine was seen personally attacking a police officer and describing him as a “house negro” and “house slave” and threatening him and his family. This sectarian sentiment has been consistent in all his affairs. His people, including a journalist, were seen kicking a police officer.
This is their plan for Kampala and Wakiso!
This conduct has not been without support of some media actors. The “Daily Monitor” on its X handle tweeted a cartoon with the veiled message of lighting the match sticks and igniting explosions (10th November 2025 at 12:00pm). On 9th November 2025 it had published an op-ed encouraging the “Tanzanian way”! Of course, it does not take genius to see through what the Daily Monitor has been advocating for so long!
So the question then is, must Ugandans be held at ransom with of violence, unrest and anarchy only so that NUP and its imperialist backers have their way? And should our security apparatus ignore this clear mobilization to anarchy?
Should security overlook this intention designed to kick-in come 24th November 2025 and the campaigns in Kampala and Wakiso?
The scriptures tell us “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full”. John 10:10.
The NRM has been consistent about peace and security, reduction of infant and maternal mortality and the living together of all Ugandans peacefully and productively. This is the only guarantee of human rights, human dignity and a developed society.
