The newly elected Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rev. Canon Associate Professor Dr. Grace Lubaale, has passed a special message to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through the Special Presidential Assistant for Press and Mobilization, Haji Faruk Kirunda, during a private meeting held at Kirunda’s Nakasero office in Kampala.

Dr. Lubaale—who was elected in October 2025 as the 4th Bishop of Busoga Diocese—is set to be consecrated and enthroned on December 14, 2025, at Christ Cathedral Bugembe in Jinja, taking over from Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Samson Naimanhye Mukembo.

During their engagement, Haji Kirunda conveyed congratulations from President Museveni, State House, and his own family to the Bishop-elect.

“I wish you a wonderful tenure in office,” Kirunda told him.

Kirunda also briefed Dr. Lubaale on the persistent poverty challenges in Busoga, pointing to mindset as the biggest obstacle. He urged the incoming Bishop to use his new spiritual authority to rally believers around the NRM’s wealth-creation message.

“Help the government to spread the wealth creation gospel so our people can fight poverty and improve their livelihoods,” he appealed.

In his response, Dr. Lubaale pledged to work closely with government to drive development and combat poverty across Busoga. He noted that his church-led initiatives will align with the National Development Plan (NDP) to uplift communities.

Dr. Lubaale also delivered a special request to the President through Haji Kirunda—an official invitation for President Museveni to attend his consecration ceremony.
