Uganda: Police Investigate Suspected Murder of Officer in Nabilatuk District
Police in Nabilatuk District are investigating the suspected murder of PPC Bonny Nuwahereza, an officer attached to the Sakale ASTU Detach, after his decomposing body was discovered in a remote village.
The body was found in Lokitela Village, Sakale Parish, Lolachat Sub-county, after locals alerted authorities to a foul smell. Preliminary investigations suggest that the officer may have been strangled, prompting police to open a case of suspected murder.
Karamoja Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Mike Longole, said the force is committed to uncovering the circumstances surrounding Nuwahereza's death.
"We appeal to anyone with information to come forward and assist us," Longole said. "We will do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to justice."
The recovery of the officer's body has raised concern among residents. Police are urging the community to remain calm as investigations continue.
