According to Moses Mugwee, the Bukedi South Police spokesperson, Police in Tororo arrested three men in connection with the suspected human trafficking scheme that has been ongoing since August 2025.

He identified the suspects as Odiope Andrew (from Kapelebyong), Engicu Samuel (from Amuria), and Acori Michael (from Katakwi), all residents of Bison Cell in Tororo Municipality.

They promised the victims employment opportunities with a company called “Rock Star Millionaires Team” in Tororo, demanding up to two million shillings from each one of them.

“On November 19, 2025, police officers led by Sgt. Omego Francis, OC Station Western Division, responded to a tip-off at Muzuri Guest House,” says Mugwe.

Three victims Gabriel Omoding, Tom Francis Opolot, and Emmanuel Okoli, reported that they had paid large sums to the suspects but had not received any jobs.

The trio revealed that they had already made part payments as follows; Shs 1.8M, Shs800,000 and Shs150,000 respectively.

Their complaints guided police to Bison ‘A’ Cell, where 12 more victims were found living in rented rooms, awaiting the promised employment.

Police findings indicate that exhibit of one million shillings was recovered from the suspects and the victims hailed from Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Amuria, Soroti, Serere, and Kumi districts.

The victims are; Amede Esther from Kapelebyong District, Pedo Lillian from Katakwi District, Aguo Jesca from Soroti District, Ilobu Caroline from Amuria District, and Aigo Veronica from Amuria District.

Others are Apio Josephine from Kapelebyong District, Acen Rhoda from Amuria District, Acomai Irene from Katakwi District, Omoding Gabriel from Kapelebyong District, Okoli Emmanuel from Amuria District and Itocu Samuel from Serere District.

The suspects are currently facing charges of Trafficking in Persons, and police have vowed to bring them to justice.
