I Forced President Museveni to Respect Artistes — Bobi Wine
National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has claimed credit for what he describes as a shift in how President Yoweri Museveni engages with musicians.
While addressing supporters during a rally in Kawempe, Bobi Wine said that before he joined active politics, President Museveni allegedly did not value or respect artistes. He believes his political rise pushed the government to start working closely with entertainers.
According to Bobi Wine, the President only began surrounding himself with musicians in a strategic attempt to limit his influence and slow down his political advancement.
“Museveni never respected musicians before I stood up against him. He didn’t value artistes. He only started working with them after I came up against his rule, hoping friendship with them would stop my growth and influence,” Bobi Wine said.
The former presidential candidate further encouraged artistes across the country to join forces in the fight for change, saying unity in the creative industry could bring a new chapter for Uganda’s entertainment sector
