Police has recovered 40 number plates belonging to stolen motorcycles in Oyam district.
According to Patrick Okema, Police Spokesperson, North Kyoga, the intelligence led operation was carried out on Tuesday, 25th November, 2025 at Ajali Opoo Village, Adel Parish, Minakulu Sub-county in Oyam district.
He says acting on credible intelligence, the Oyam Police raided the village and particularly the home of a one Ayen Calvin, where a spirited search led to the discovery of the number plates buried in a banana plantation.
“Intelligence reports indicated that an organized group of criminals had been seen dismantling and altering the number plates of suspected stolen motorcycles at the residence of AYEN CALVINE, a local resident,” says Okema.
Okema says one box containing spanners and other tools commonly used for dismantling or modifying motorcycles was also recovered. Three bundles of dried opium and other items linked to criminal activity were also seized.
He adds that no arrests have been made at this stage, but efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing, as some of them are known to the authorities.
“We urge community members to work closely with security forces to ensure that these criminals are captured and brought to justice,” says Okema.
