Eng.-AFC/M23 arrests 40 men for transporting weapons and other military equipment
Fighters of the AFC/M23 coalition arrested 40 men who were carrying guns and other military equipment destined for Mahanga in Masisi Territory.
These men were intercepted by AFC/M23 combatants in Kashebere, located in the Luberike Groupement in Walikale Territory, North Kivu Province.
According to sources in the area, the men were transporting the military equipment to Mahanga in Masisi Territory on Tuesday morning. The information was confirmed by security organs and local authorities in the town of Walikale.
The men, who were moving the weapons, were arrested by AFC/M23 fighters while the group was conducting security operations along the road from Mahanga toward Kasopo.
Although a peace agreement was signed in Doha, Qatar, between the Government of the DRC and the AFC/M23 coalition requiring both sides to cease hostilities, the situation continues to deteriorate. Fighting has intensified, and the AFC/M23 coalition continues to capture more areas from their opponents, who in turn continue shelling civilian populations.
