Parliamentary Sacco Assets Rise 14% to Shs 86.3bn
Uganda Parliamentary SACCO has registered growth in its assets base in the last financial Year 2024-2025.
The SACCO current assets stands at 86.3 billion from 75.8 billion in the FY 2023/2024 representing a 14% growth.
The CEO of the sacco Mureebe Methods Muhakuna revealed this during the 21st AGM held at Parliament.
Uganda Parliamentary Sacco held its 21st Annual General Meeting under the theme "Co-operatives driving inclusive and sustainable solutions for a better world".
The sacco has continued to register progress in various investments contributing to its growth having added real estates among the investment portfolio.
Chairperson of the Parliamentary scheme Robert Migadde boasts of making profits through selling part of the assets like the land forceful taken by updf along Mityana road.
'' Honarable members, am happy to inform you that through the intervention of our speakers to the higher authorities, government compensated us shs.20bn from the 100 acres of land which was compulsory acquired by updf".says Robert Migadde.
Migadde further revealed that to reduce on continuous conmen who target new members of parliament by selling them fake plots and houses in congested city, the sacco has acquired 100 acres of prime land along Gayaza road which will be sold to incoming members of parliament after taking their oath.
The chief executive officer of the Parliamentary sacco Methods Muhakuna told sacco members that the total current assets followed the same path to register 14% increase from 75.8 bn in June 2024 to 86.2 bn in June 2025.
"Financial investments are mostly in unit trusts, fixed deposits in various commercial banks, prepayments, cash and regular savings reducing from shs.16bn to shs.14bn because of campaigns as members of parliament demand cash and this witnessed 30% increase from shs.34bn in financial year 2023/2024b to June 2025 as they seek another term". says, Methods Muhakuna.
The Uganda Parliamentary Sacco as of June 2025 notes total equity of up to 20 billion.
