Etania Mutoni: Female DJs face unfair criticism from insecure male peers.
Media personality and DJ Etania Mutoni has called out male DJs who undermine their female counterparts, saying their criticism is rooted in insecurity rather than ability.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Etania expressed her disappointment with how some male DJs have openly dismissed female DJs as “unqualified” or “incapable” of mastering the craft.
She emphasized that the industry has for years been dominated by men, but times have changed as more women, including herself, have stepped confidently into the DJing space.
These male DJs were bashing the female DJs badly when they had just come out. Talking about how we can’t play, can’t mix, that we just know how to dress. But now we can do all those. What’s the excuse now?
Etania also pushed back on the narrative that female DJs only secure gigs because of their gender, calling it an unfair and baseless assumption.
Most of these male DJs think because they have been DJing longer than everyone, they are supposed to… shame on them.
You’ll be shocked at who God blesses. God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
