Buikwe: Careless Overtaking Causes Serious Accident on Kampala-Jinja Road
Police in Buikwe District are investigating a serious road accident that occurred on Thursday, December 5, 2025, at around 2:30 p.m. at Bulumagi village along the Kampala–Jinja highway.
According to the Ssezibwa Region Police spokesperson, SP Hellen Butoto, the crash involved two motor vehicles:
UBG 263K Fuso Fighter, driven by Ntabazi Joseph, 55, a resident of Jinja City.
UBS 644E Toyota Hiace (PSV), whose driver is yet to be identified.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Toyota Hiace, which was travelling from Jinja toward Kampala, attempted to overtake carelessly. On realising that an oncoming vehicle was approaching from the opposite lane, the driver swerved abruptly to avoid a head-on collision and instead crashed into the Fuso truck he was overtaking.
The impact caused both vehicles to overturn. The Fuso was loaded with cartons of spirits at the time of the crash.
Seven victims were injured and rushed to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. They include:
Bossa Andrew, male adult, resident of Busia (taxi passenger)
Namulondo Tracy, female juvenile, 15, Musoga, resident of Buyende District
