BUSHENYI: Drunk Police Officer Loses Gun to Thieves
A police Constable who had been deployed to guard Bushenyi chief magistrates and High court lost an AK47 gun after getting drunk.
According to credible sources at Bushenyi police, the suspect was persuaded into drinking alcohol and eventually became absolutely drunk hence could not in the morning know the whereabouts of the gun.
The incident happened on the night of Wednesday, 10th December, 2025.
Bushenyi DPC, OC CID, Deputy RPC and regional CID declined to name the suspect but referred this reporter to the police PRO SP Tayebwa Apollo whose phones were all switched off.
The Police confirmed that the suspect was arrested and is in custody at Bushenyi police and the investigations to recover the gun which is in illegal hands are ongoing.
Bushenyi police authorities have called upon the public within Bushenyi district and outside to be on the watch out to help police recover the stolen gun.
A stolen gun in the public is a dangerous tool always used for robbery, theft and murder of innocent civilians
