Singer Gloria Bugie fires back at societal pressures to have children.
Gloria Bugie has revealed that giving birth is far from her current list of priorities, adding that she has much bigger goals she aims to achieve.
When asked about the ongoing societal and media pressure women face to settle down and have children, the singer fired back with a sharp response: “I have better things to do than give birth right now.â€
For Bugie pointed out that Uganda’s music industry remains “backward†in many respects.
I have many things to achieve, such as transforming our music industry, which is still behind in some ways.
Bugie noted that being a successful artist does not have to fit a traditional mold that includes marriage and children, especially when there are pressing professional goals to be reached.
In addition to addressing the topic of motherhood, Gloria Bugie criticized this practice, warning her fellow musicians to focus on building their own unique identities rather than riding on others’ coattails.
There are too many musicians trying to climb on other people’s names to get ahead. If you want to succeed, do it the right way, build your own brand and legacy
