KAMPALA – Ugandan runner and fitness enthusiast Sarah Nambogo and her daughter have been released without charge and are in good health, days after her reported abduction from Kampala Club sparked public concern, her running club said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Fast & Furious running club said Nambogo and her daughter were unharmed and thanked the public and security agencies for their support and cooperation during the incident.

“We are relieved to inform you that our member, Sarah Nambogo, together with her daughter, has been released without charge, and both are in good health and unharmed,” the club said.

The club also appealed for privacy for Nambogo and her family as they recover from the ordeal.

The development follows an earlier statement issued on December 12, in which the club reported that Nambogo had been abducted at around 10:30 a.m. from the southern gate of Kampala Club while speaking to a colleague from the running community.

According to the club, preliminary information indicated that five individuals travelling in a silver Toyota Noah, registration number UBP 791G, were involved in the incident. Witnesses reported that the group included a woman and was armed.

The club further said that the group had earlier engaged Nambogo’s daughter inside the club premises, allegedly under the pretext of coordinating a running event, before driving her to the southern gate where they encountered Nambogo.

Video footage reviewed by the club was said to have confirmed the vehicle’s registration number and captured some of the individuals involved, prompting the club to alert authorities and request public assistance.

Ugandan security agencies have not publicly commented on the circumstances surrounding the arrest, detention or release of Nambogo and her daughter.

The incident drew widespread attention within Kampala’s running and fitness community, as well as on social media, with calls for transparency and accountability.

The club said it would not issue further details and urged the public to respect

the family’s privacy.
