I Spotted Jose Chameleone’s Talent in Kawempe – Omulangira Ndausi

Veteran media personality and events host Omulangira Ndausi has revealed that he played a key role in discovering and introducing Jose Chameleone to the Ugandan music industry.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Ndausi explained that he first noticed Chameleone’s talent while the singer was still living in Kawempe, long before fame and stardom.

According to Ndausi, Chameleone was at the time a pool player, and it was during that period that he identified his musical potential and decided to support him.

“Chameleone’s mum is my aunt, and I actually spotted his talent in Kawempe. I met him when he was a pool player,” Ndausi said.

He further revealed that he brought the young Chameleone to live at his home and later connected him to Shanks Vivie’D, who was then hosting events at the now-defunct Club Ajenoir.

“We started living with him, and I linked him to Shanks who was hosting events at Club Ajenoir. After that, he didn’t look back,” he explained.

Ndausi added that despite Chameleone’s rise to stardom, the singer has remained humble and respectful over the years, regularly updating him about his achievements.

“For all these years, Chameleone has remained respectful to me. He always informs me whenever he registers a win,” Ndausi noted.

The veteran media personality also disclosed that he played a role in supporting other top artistes during their early days, including Bebe Cool.

He claims he was among the first promoters to give both Chameleone and Bebe Cool their first paid stage performances in Kampala.

“I used to work with them at different shows. Chameleone and Bebe Cool—I actually gave them their first paid stage appearances in Kampala,” he added.

Ndausi’s remarks offer a rare glimpse into the early struggles and mentorship that shaped some of Uganda’s biggest music stars, highlighting the behind-the-scenes figures who helped lay the foundation for today’s industry giants.
