KAMPALA — Renowned musician and Kakuuto County Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Lutaaya, has graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration and Management from the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), marking a major academic milestone alongside his public service and music career.
Lutaaya, one of Uganda’s most celebrated Kadongo Kamu musicians, joined other graduates during the university’s graduation ceremony, drawing applause from fellow students, lecturers and supporters who hailed his commitment to education despite a demanding schedule in Parliament and the arts.
The legislator said the qualification strengthens his capacity to serve his constituents more effectively, noting that leadership requires continuous learning.
“Education sharpens leadership. As a public servant, I believe improving my academic grounding helps me understand governance better and deliver meaningful change to the people I represent,” Lutaaya said.
Known for hit songs that have shaped Uganda’s music industry for decades, Lutaaya has in recent years balanced studio work, live performances and legislative duties. His graduation has been widely praised as a testament to lifelong learning and discipline.
IUIU officials commended graduates for investing in education and urged them to apply their knowledge to national development. Lutaaya’s achievement, they noted, reflects the university’s growing role in training leaders for public service.
Constituents in Kakuuto County described the MP’s academic success as inspiring, especially to young people who look up to him both as an artist and a leader.
Lutaaya joins a growing list of Ugandan legislators pursuing higher education while in office, reinforcing the message that learning does not stop with age or status.
