Don't Try Us! - Gen. Muhoozi Vows to Crush 2026 Election Chaos

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has warned that it will not tolerate any form of disruption during the 2026 general elections, emphasizing that security agencies will firmly deal with anyone attempting to interfere with the electoral process.

Speaking on the matter, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, said the army will ensure that the voting, counting, and tallying processes are conducted transparently and peacefully.

“The vote counting and tallying process will be transparent and done in the open. Each candidate’s polling agent will be present, including those for presidential candidates, directly elected Members of Parliament, and woman MPs on January 15, 2026,” Gen. Muhoozi said.

He added that the process will also be monitored by local and international election observers, the media, and other relevant stakeholders, leaving no justification for unauthorized gatherings around polling stations.

“There is no need for people to hang around claiming they are protecting votes,” he warned.

Gen. Muhoozi, who also serves as the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, urged political actors, supporters, and candidates to strictly adhere to Electoral Commission guidelines and cooperate fully with security agencies throughout the election period.

He stressed that peace and order remain a priority for the army and that any attempts to incite disorder under the guise of vote protection will not be entertained.

The warning comes as political temperatures continue to rise ahead of the 2026 general elections, with security agencies pledging to maintain stability across the country.
