Mystery Surrounds Death of 11-Year-Old Girl Found in Taxi Park
Police at Kampala Central Police Station have launched investigations into the tragic death of an 11-year-old girl whose body was found at Old Taxi Park in Kampala Central. The incident has shocked the public and raised serious concerns about child safety during travel.
Police say the incident was discovered on the morning of 23rd December 2025 at around 9:00am at the Tororo Stage in Old Taxi Park. According to preliminary findings, the child had been traveling in a Toyota Hiace taxi, commonly known as a drone, registration number UBM 696P.
Investigations reveal that on 22nd December 2025 at about 4:30pm, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Kalulu Bosco, was loading passengers in Tororo when a guide known only as Asuman brought the young girl to him. The guide reportedly told the driver that the child was traveling to Walusubi in Mukono District. The driver was given two telephone contacts of the person who was supposed to receive the girl upon arrival.
When the vehicle reached Walusubi at around 12:30am, the driver tried to call the provided numbers. However, one phone was switched off, while the other was answered by someone who said it was a wrong number. With no one to receive the child, the driver decided to continue to Kampala, planning to take her back to Tororo if the contacts remained unreachable.
The child reportedly spent the night inside the vehicle. In the morning, as the taxi was being loaded with passengers to return to Tororo and was leaving Old Taxi Park, one of the passengers noticed that the girl was not moving. Police were immediately informed.
A case of sudden death was registered, and the body was taken to KCCA City Mortuary for a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death. Police have confirmed that the child was not traveling with any known relative.
During a search of her belongings, officers recovered a piece of paper with two telephone numbers and a yellow T-shirt bearing the badge of St. Anthony Parents Mukono, with the name “Kiiza” written on it. These items may help in identifying the deceased and tracing her family.
Police say efforts are ongoing to identify the child and locate her relatives. Meanwhile, authorities have urged parents and guardians to ensure that children do not travel alone and are always accompanied by responsible adults to prevent such tragic incidents.
The police continue to appeal to anyone with information that may help identify the child or her family to come forward.
