Mr. Henrie shares near-death driving experience
Renowned media personality Mr. Henrie has shared a harrowing experience in which he narrowly escaped death following a near head-on collision with a heavy truck.
Recalling the incident, Mr. Henrie revealed that it happened about eight years ago as he was driving home in the early hours of the morning after hosting an emceeing gig.
At the time, he was living in Kyengera and driving a green, single-door Toyota RAV4.
He admitted that exhaustion got the better of him during the journey, causing him to briefly doze off behind the wheel.
When he regained consciousness, he found himself dangerously close to an oncoming truck. Thanks to quick reflexes and what he describes as divine intervention, he managed to maneuver his vehicle and avoid a fatal collision as the truck driver desperately hooted.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr. Henrie described it as a life-changing moment that forced him to rethink his approach to road safety.
Since then, he has made a personal commitment to prioritize safety. Whenever he feels too tired or overwhelmed to drive, he either pulls over to rest or hires a special hire vehicle to ensure he gets home safely.
8 years ago, I almost died. I was returning home from working at an emceeing gig. As I was driving to Kyengera, where I was staying, I dozed off because I was tired and blacked out.
The next moment I opened my eyes, I was next and in front of a heavy long vehicle. I almost had a head collision with the trailer. But, thank God, I was driving a small car, and I managed to maneuver. The truck driver was hooting.
That day, I was going to be crushed like a chapati. From day, when I feel sleepy while driving, I just park or call a special hire.
Mr. Henrie says the experience remains a powerful reminder of the dangers of driving while fatigued and hopes others can learn from his story.
