Kaberamaido Principal HR Officer Interdicted Over Absenteeism and Misconduct
Kaberamaido, Uganda – Panic has gripped officers attached to Kaberamaido District Local Government following the interdiction of the District Principal Human Resource Officer, Mr John Bosco Omwanet, over alleged absenteeism, arrogance, and intimidation of staff.
Mr Omwanet was interdicted last week by the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr Swalikih Wasswa Masokoyi.
Speaking to the media, Mr Masokoyi accused Mr Omwanet of being intimidating and overly arrogant towards fellow officers.
“I have come to Kaberamaido to deliver services to the people, not to witch-hunt anyone. However, I will not tolerate indiscipline among staff,” Mr Masokoyi said.
He cautioned other district officers to improve their conduct and commitment to duty, stressing that government salaries are paid to facilitate service delivery.
“We are not paid by government to be arrogant to the people, absent from duty, or reluctant at work, but to deliver services to the public,” he added.
Meanwhile, members of the public have welcomed Mr Omwanet’s interdiction, describing it as a positive step towards restoring discipline at the district.
One officer, who requested anonymity, alleged that Mr Omwanet had treated the district as his personal entity.
“That man behaved like the king of Kaberamaido. He would come to the office and leave at his own convenience,” the officer said.
Several attempts to obtain a comment from Mr Omwanet were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to repeated phone calls.
