The Electoral Commission has denominated National Unity Platform, (NUP) flagbearer for Isingiro North Constituency.

Ntanda Shalif Hakim who was contesting against the Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Bright Rwamirama in a letter dated 19th December, 2025.

According to the Electoral Commission, Ntanda was denominated after two individuals formally complained to the EC that they did not append their names and signatures to Ntanda’s nomination form.

The duo: Nabunya Afuwa and Nalubowa Amina Musa consequently appeared before the commission on 13th and 14th November where they swore affidavits denying signing or appending their names and signatures on Ntanda’s nomination form.

As a result EC avers that out of the ten supporters, Ntanda has only 8 legit supporters on his nomination form contrary to Section 28 (1) (c) of the Parliamentary Elections Act Cap. 177, thus rendering the nomination void and or invalid.

“Accordingly, the decision of the Returning Officer Isingiro Electoral District in nominating the Respondent (Ntanda) is hereby quashed,” orders EC’s Justice Byabakama.

However, the NUP Principal, Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi disagrees with EC alleging bribery and intimidation of the two complainants.

FUUL STATEMENT

BYABAKAMA! He has yet again denominated another

@NUP_Ug candidate, Ntanda Shalif, who has been running against Bright Rwamirama in Isingiro North Constituency! One day after denominating the Woman MP of the same district, and several others before. Over these past weeks, regime operatives have approached him with offers of hundreds of millions to step down. Upon refusal, they have now denominated him. The very operatives abducted two of those who signed his nomination papers and forced them to claim that they never signed for him. The conditions for the removal of Museveni have never been as ripe as they are today. The impunity is unprecedented. The people of Uganda must rise to the occasion and say ENOUGH.
