23-Year-Old Businessman Arrested With 3,000 Live Ammunition in Agago

Security authorities in the Aswa East Region have made a major arrest in Agago District involving suspected illegal possession of government stores. The arrest was made on December 30 following an intelligence-led operation by security personnel in the area. The incident has raised serious concerns about the illegal circulation of ammunition and its threat to public safety.

The suspect has been identified as Kibet Eliod, a 23-year-old businessman and a Sabin by tribe. He is a resident of Kongta Village, Chesowes Parish, Chesowes Sub-county in Bukwo District. According to the preliminary report, Kibet was found in possession of 3,000 live SMG ammunition rounds, which are classified as government stores.

Security officials say the ammunition was recovered during the arrest, and the suspect was immediately taken into custody. Possession of such a large quantity of live ammunition without authorization is a serious offense, and investigations were swiftly launched to establish how the suspect acquired the items and what his intentions were.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspect is currently being interrogated as investigations continue.
