Rebecca Kadaga’s office has donated essential items to patients at Kamuli General Hospital as part of New Year outreach, while urging peace and participation in the 2026 elections.

Patients at Kamuli General Hospital receive essential items from the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.

Kamuli, Uganda: The First Deputy Prime Minister and Kamuli District Woman MP, Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, ushered in the New Year by donating essential items to patients at Kamuli General Hospital, in a gesture aimed at spreading cheer and encouraging peace ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The donation was delivered on Kadaga’s behalf by Hellen Namutamba, the Minister for Tourism and Heritage in Obwa Kyabazinga and Head of Mobilisation in the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister.

Patients received basic necessities including sugar, soap, food items, drinks and assorted hampers, bringing smiles to those receiving treatment at the facility.

Namutamba conveyed New Year greetings from Kadaga to both patients and staff, describing the donation as a sign of love and care for the people of Kamuli District.

“I am here on behalf of Mama Kadaga. She has sent me to share with you, the patients and staff of Kamuli General Hospital, as a sign of love and care for the people,” Namutamba said.

She also used the occasion to rally residents to support the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and vote for Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the January 15, 2026, elections. “She has asked me to appeal to you to vote for NRM flag bearers and President Museveni on January 15, 2026,” Namutamba added.

Kadaga urged residents to prioritise peace during the election period, noting that unity must prevail beyond political competition. “Maintain peace on election day. Go and vote for your favourite candidates, but ensure that we keep peace because elections come and go, but we remain Ugandans,” she emphasised.

Hospital Management Welcomes Support

Kamuli Acting District Health Officer, Moses Lyagoba, welcomed the gesture and praised Kadaga for her continued support to the health facility.

“We thank Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga because she has always been there for us. She is the one who upgraded this facility to a general hospital, and now she is checking on our patients and staff. We are very grateful,” Dr Lyagoba said.

Patients expressed gratitude for the support, describing the donation as timely and comforting. “It is a big relief. We appreciate the kindness,” one beneficiary said.
