KAMPALA – National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has strongly condemned the Electoral Commission (EC) over what he described as a deliberate move to block opposition candidates in Makindye Division.

In a statement, Bobi Wine said the Commission, under chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama, has once again disqualified NUP’s candidate for Makindye Division Mayor, Lusagala Bosco, among other party candidates. The decision, he noted, effectively leaves the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate unopposed.

“As we have said repeatedly, whatever Museveni and Byabakama are looking for, they will definitely get,” Bobi Wine said, accusing the EC of working in the interests of President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling party.

The opposition leader argued that the repeated disqualification of opposition candidates is further evidence of a compromised electoral process aimed at silencing dissent and maintaining the status quo.

Bobi Wine said such actions only strengthen the resolve of those fighting for change, insisting that Ugandans have every reason to continue pushing for a free and fair political environment.

“Each day gives us more reason to fight on until Uganda is free,” he said, adding that what he termed as “nonsense” could easily come to an end if citizens collectively stand up to reclaim their country.
