ICPAU 2025 results being released on Monday.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) on Monday released the results for the December 2025 examinations, marking the final sitting for the year. The announcement covers the Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), Certified Tax Advisor (CTA), and Certified Public Accountants (CPA) courses.

CPA Nancy Amuge Owino, Chairperson of the Public Accountants Examinations Board (PAEB), provided an overview of the results and key administrative changes. She said a total of 6,309 candidates sat the exams, a slight decline of 4.8% from the 6,628 candidates in May 2025.

“This is to the Sustainability Disclosure Standards. ICPAU now logged the roadmap for implementing the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, having adopted the standards for use in Uganda in 2024,” Owino said. “With the escalating impact of climate change, and growing developments around climate action, the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards are a game changer in the global sustainability agenda. They will improve compliance, comparability, and the quality of climate-related information available to users of financial reports.”

Owino also confirmed that the ATD examinations have been fully transferred from PAEB to the Uganda Vocational and Technical Assessment Board (UVTAB). Students who did not complete the ATD exams under PAEB are now required to register with UVTAB.

In addition to the results, ICPUU announced virtual student engagement and pre-exam briefing sessions scheduled from 23 to 31 March 2026. “These sessions are free and designed to improve student performance by providing direct interaction with the Board,” Owino said.

Speaking at the results release ceremony at the Protea Hotel by Marriott, Kampala Skyz, CPA Timothy David Ediomu, President of ICPAU, congratulated students who passed.

“This exam result release ceremony is not merely an announcement of performance. It is an acknowledgement of resilience, ambition, growth and a proud moment that reflects determination to build accountancy careers anchored in professionalism, competence, and integrity,” Ediomu said. “To those who excelled, we celebrate you. Your hard work and discipline have brought you this far. Use this victory as motivation to complete your qualification. Uganda needs more professional accountants who are ethical, skilled, and committed to the transformation of our country.”

Ediomu encouraged candidates who did not pass to remain committed. “One who tries and falls is on a far better path than one who never tries at all. Your journey has not ended; it has simply taken a little turn and with more effort, you will succeed,” he said.

The ICPAU President also announced that the 16th ICPAU graduation ceremony will be held on 6 March 2026 for CPA, CTA, and ATD finalists of 2025. He highlighted other planned professional events including the Public Finance Management (PFM) Conference, the CPA Economic Forum, the C-Suite Forum, the ICPAU Annual Seminar, and the Financial Reporting Awards.

In addition, the Accountancy Service Awards will be held earlier than usual, on 10 May 2026, to recognize outstanding finance teams and institutional partners. “Students are eligible to submit nominations under two categories: Finance Team of the Year and Institutional Partner of the Year,” Ediomu said.

Regarding sustainability reporting, Ediomu urged organizations to consider early adoption of the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards starting January 2026 to respond to growing stakeholder demand for high-quality, climate-related financial disclosures. ICPAU will hold awareness and training programs to support implementation.

In closing, Ediomu thanked examiners, invigilators, secretariat staff, and media partners for their role in supporting the examinations process. “To all our students, whether celebrating or rebuilding, I encourage you to carry forward a spirit of courage and intention in 2026. May the year 2026 bring a clearer purpose and great achievements for each one of you,” he said.
