Police at Bulenga Police Station have arrested a 25-year-old man, Kabira Deo, in connection with the malicious damage of a police motor vehicle in Wakiso District. The vehicle, registration number UP 9770, was reportedly damaged on 10th January 2026 at Lufula in Nakabugo Parish during a security operation to manage crowds.

According to the police statement, the incident occurred as National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, was traveling to a campaign venue in Ssentema. During the crowd control operation, the suspect allegedly threw stones at the police vehicle, smashing its windscreen and causing serious damage.

Police officers responded immediately, secured the area, and later arrested Kabira Deo in connection with the incident. The scene was visited by investigators as part of the standard procedure to collect evidence and establish the full circumstances under which the damage occurred.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the arrest and said investigations are still ongoing. He noted that police are working to identify whether other individuals were involved and to determine the motive behind the attack.

Police have reminded the public that damaging government property is a serious offense under the law. They urged political supporters and the general public to remain calm and peaceful during campaign activities, emphasizing that law enforcement will continue to act to maintain order while respecting the law.
