No Tolerance for Election Violence, Says CID Chief Magambo
The Director of Criminal Investigations, AIGP Tom Magambo, has warned individuals planning to disrupt the electoral process that security agencies will act decisively to protect the country and its people.
Magambo said authorities are working “day and night” to ensure the elections are free, fair, and peaceful, stressing that there will be no tolerance for disorder or violence.
“There will be no chaos here. If you are busy planning chaos, then you should expect the system to come for you,” Magambo said, noting that security agencies are constitutionally mandated to safeguard citizens regardless of political affiliation.
He emphasized that anyone attempting to threaten voters or destabilize the country would be dealt with firmly, “regardless of the political colours.”
Addressing the media, Magambo dismissed suggestions that the state would stand by in the face of unrest.
“I will be lying to you, the fourth estate, that you see, we are going to sit down and smile as you burn the City. That one will not happen,” Magambo said.
“If you are planning anarchy, prepare yourself. Prepare because that’s what the constitution has asked us to do,” he added.
Magambo’s warning comes amid heightened political tension as the country heads to presidential and parliamentary polls thos week on Thursday, with security agencies reporting increased rhetoric and actions by some political actors threatening to disrupt the process.

Authorities say intelligence assessments point to isolated groups and individuals mobilising supporters, spreading inflammatory messages, and openly vowing to cause disorder if outcomes do not favour them.
In recent weeks, officials have also raised concern over the misuse of social media to incite violence and undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
Also, some opposition politicians have allegedly used political gatherings to incite masses into chaos on the election day and thereafter.
Security agencies argue that such actions pose a direct threat to public safety and constitutional order, prompting a firm stance to deter any attempts to plunge the country into chaos during the polls.
