Hon Mathias Mpuuga Accuses NRM of Rigging
Democratic Front (DF) party president Mathias Mpuuga has strongly rejected the presidential and parliamentary election results announced by the Electoral Commission (EC), saying the entire process was deeply flawed and did not reflect the true will of the people.
Mpuuga said the elections were affected by widespread vote rigging and serious irregularities that made it impossible to call the process free and fair. According to him, many problems were reported from different parts of the country, pointing to what he described as a well-organized plan to manipulate the outcome of the vote.
One of the key issues he raised was the delay in delivering voting materials to several polling stations. He argued that this was not accidental but deliberate, aimed at confusing voters and disrupting the voting process. In some areas, voters waited for long hours, while others gave up and went back home without voting.
Mpuuga also criticized the involvement of the military in the electoral process. He said the presence of armed personnel at polling stations and during voting created fear among voters. In his view, elections should be managed by civilian authorities, not soldiers, to allow citizens to vote freely without intimidation.
Another major concern was the failure to properly use the Biometric Voter Verification Kit. Mpuuga said this opened the door to voter fraud, including multiple voting and the inclusion of unverified voters. He stressed that biometric verification is meant to protect the integrity of elections and its absence weakened public trust in the results.
The DF president called on Ugandans to carefully reflect on the electoral process and demand reforms that will ensure future elections are transparent, credible, and peaceful. He insisted that democracy can only grow when elections are conducted in a fair and honest manner, where every vote truly counts.
