BREAKING! Kamuli District CAO, CFO Charged Over Embezzlement of Over Shs600M Road Fund

The Kamuli District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Chief Finance Officer (CFO) have been arraigned and charged in court over alleged embezzlement of over Shs600M meant for roads rehabilitation and maintenance.

The duo was presented before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo, Kampala by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit today, Monday, January 19, 2026.

The CAO, Mukiibi Nasser and his colleague, Kifuuse Alex, were charged with various offenses of Abuse of office and Causing financial loss.

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, the duo with another who is still at large committed the offences between May and June 2025 while employed by Kamuli District Local Government as Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Finance Officer.

They are accused of abusing the authority of their respective offices, and did an arbitrary act prejudicial to the interests of their employer by embezzling over Shs600M through irregularly processing and approving payments to different suppliers including; Raven Knights Ltd, Total Uganda Limited and Mufumba Daniel, the district engineer for supplies such as fuel, construction materials, diversion and traffic control signs, allowances among items for rehabilitation works on the Nawanyago-Kisozi Road.

The said activities which were meant to be carried out in the F/Y 2024/2025 were not done yet the entire money was spent.

They have been remanded until 20/01/2026.
