The Electoral Commission (EC) has officially released the full polling timetable for the 2026 general elections under the theme “Uganda Decides 2026 – My Vote, My Voice.” The schedule outlines the dates on which Ugandans will vote for different elective positions, starting in January and ending in early February 2026.

The election process will continue with workers’ representatives to Parliament voting on January 19, 2026. This will be followed by elections for Special Interest Groups (SIGs) councillors at municipality and city division level on January 20, covering youths, older persons, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).

On January 21, 2026, SIGs councillors at district and city level will be elected, representing youths, older persons, workers, and PWDs. The following day, January 22, voters will elect district and city local government leaders, including chairpersons, mayors, and councillors.

The EC has also scheduled municipality and city division chairpersons and councillors’ elections for January 27, 2026. On January 28, three different groups will vote: regional youth representatives to Parliament, the national female older persons’ representative, and UPDF representatives to Parliament.

Elections for SIGs councillors at sub-county, town, and municipal division levels will take place on January 30, 2026. The process will then move into February, with older persons’ representatives to Parliament voting on February 2, followed by PWDs’ representatives on February 3.

The final stages of the electoral process include sub-county, town, and municipal division elections on February 4, 2026, and the national female youth representative to Parliament election on February 6, 2026, bringing the entire exercise to a close.

The Electoral Commission has urged all eligible voters and candidates to take note of these dates and participate peacefully in the electoral process, emphasizing that every vote counts in shaping Uganda’s future.
