BREAKING! Court Rules on Recount of Tororo District Woman MP Votes
Tororo Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered a recount of votes for the January 15 polls in the race for District Woman MP.
The order given today, Friday, 23rd January, 2026 follows a complaint filed by the incumbent Sarah Achieng Opendi (NRM), who polled 78,507 votes.
Opendi lost to a PLU leaning independent Angella Akoth who received 78,542 votes, a slim margin of just 35 votes.
The Chief Magistrate Irene Nantebya ruled that the recount be conducted on Saturday, January 24, at noon at the Chief Magistrate’s Court.
