Police Hunt SPC Othieno for Abusing President and IGP Online
Police in Tororo District are actively searching for a police officer accused of misusing social media to insult the President of Uganda and the Inspector General of Police. The incident involves SPC Othieno Isaac, a Japadhola man attached to Osukuru Police Station and resident of Kayoro Sub-County, Tororo.
According to reports, on 22nd January 2025 at around 09:00 hours, SPC Othieno, while dressed in police uniform, publicly criticized the President and IGP, claiming that police officers were not provided with transport and food. The act was recorded and circulated online, prompting swift action from authorities.
A case was registered under Tororo CRB 75/2026, and investigations began immediately. Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, and the video footage of the incident was retrieved as evidence. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspect handed over his police uniform at a friend’s house in Osukuru and disappeared. Intelligence reports indicate that he may be hiding in Kenya.
Police have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest SPC Othieno Isaac so that he can face prosecution. Authorities have assured the public that more updates will follow as the investigation continues.
