Obongi Police Defy President Museveni’s Executive Order No. 3, Vow to Arrest RDC and ARDC
OBONGI, Uganda – Police in Obongi district, led by the OC CID detective ASP Isiko Balisanyuka, are currently defying H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s executive order No. 3, which strictly bans the charcoal trade.
Following heavy deployment of the UPDF on the Adjumani-Amuru-Gulu road, commercial charcoal dealers are now using the Adjumani-Sinyanya Obongi ferry route and the Adjumani-Laropi Moyo ferry in a suspected connivance with police.
The charcoal dealers are buying the charcoal from Zoka forest in Adjumani district.
The charcoal dealers are also suspected to be conniving with environment officers, forest officers, and police in Adjumani and Obongi districts to defy President Museveni’s executive order No. 3, according to RDC Hasaka Samuel Mpimbasa in an interview today with The Ankole Times.
On July 31, 2024, the RDC Obongi Samuel Mpimbasa Hashaka and ARDC Umuhoza Habiba Furaha impounded a truck loaded with over 200 bags of charcoal at Obongi landing site and handed it over to the OC CID detective ASP Isiko Balisanyuka. Detective ASP Isiko Balisanyuka clandestinely released the truck, UBE 112M, defying an emergency district security committee meeting directive.
The truck was released at night, disregarding the security committee meeting directive.
After illegally releasing the charcoal, the Obongi OC CID opened a police case against the RDC and ARDC Obongi for implementing executive order No. 3.
When contacted on Tuesday evening at 3:16 PM over the matter, the Obongi DPC SP Graciano said he was not the police PRO of the region before hanging up his phone.
