On Saturday, Yusuf Nsibambi visited Bulange Mengo to participate in a talk show dubbed Parliament Yaffe, which features on Kabaka’s CBS radio every Saturday 10am-12pm.

He was here to defend and rationalize his deal-making antics which saw him a few days ago lead a faction of opposition of peripheral opposition leaders to Entebbe State House where they met with President Yoweri Museveni and discussed the future for 160 minutes.

Nsibambi is proud that the President, who he says never has that much time, gave his group so much attention. He also confessed that this was his second time to hold private talks with Gen Museveni since the beginning of this year.

During the CBS program, during which he was vigorously confronted by his nephew Paul Mwiru the newly elected NUP MP from Jinja City, Nsibambi said Museveni properly won re-election on Thursday 15th January 2026 to the extent that his NUP challenger Robert Kyagulanyi no longer has any propaganda to tell to Ugandans and his own foot soldiers, hence the decision to go into hiding.

Nsibambi said that, with elections now behind us, this is the best time for the country to move forward. He said he wants inclusion of the opposition by Museveni in his post-May government so that the country can heal and be properly united.

Nsibambi, also the FDC party whip in Parliament, said that he met Museveni in order to discuss the forgiveness of roughly 1,000 NUP foot soldiers who are now languishing in prisons and to also discuss post-election reconciliation so that the country remains united.

He also claimed that these meetings with Museveni are not about him personally but the broader opposition, which is why his delegation members included three newly elected NUP MPs. He claimed that those NUP MPs begged the President not to be in the group photo fearing to be abused by Kavule foot soldiers and bloggers.

Nsibambi claimed that while at State House, one of the very terrified NUP MPs narrated how Kavule operates a huge safe house where Kyagulanyi’s key board warriors are confined. That from that huge house hundreds of NUP social media warriors are confined and facilitated with data and digital gadgets to keep sending out online messages praising Bobi Wine while disparaging those who exercise independent mind and free speech inside NUP leadership hierarchy.

“He told us that there are about 400 NUP activists each one of whom operates up to 8 social media accounts and they spend the whole day posting and syndicating messages on social media demonizing those who disagree with the top party leadership and while at the same time glorifying those who engage in endless flattery [in favor of Bobi Wine].”

To show that he clearly doesn’t fear Bobi Wine anymore, Nsibambi didn’t even refer to the NUP leader as “my President” the way he used to do.

He also claimed to be working with most of the leaders in the Democratic Front (DF) party of Mathias Mpuuga. And gratefully, Mathias Mpuuga was listening to the program and immediately sent a message to moderator Dr. Sam Kazibwe’s phone, demanding that its read on air.

In the message, Mpuuga dared Nsibambi to act like an adult by fearlessly naming all DF leaders who are involved in his controversial State House meetings with Gen Museveni. “I’m the leader of that party and in the interest of transparency, I authorize Honorable Nsibambi to name all the DF MPs and other leaders who he has been working with on that Museveni project,” Mpuuga’s message, as proclaimed by Dr. Kazibwe, read in part.

When given the microphone, Nsibambi became ambivalent and didn’t name any amidst all the appropriately tough questioning by Dr. Samuel Kazibwe.

Nsibambi said many things during the program but Mwiru advised him to talk less to avoid exposing himself to future political vulnerability. Mwiru made it clear that a lot of the things his former Makerere law school professor was saying weren’t adding up. Mwiru made it clear that Yusuf Nsibambi’s explanation was full of contradictions, untruths and therefore logically unbelievable.

“I advise my maternal uncle to simply be truthful and say I’m hard up and I can’t continue being part of this struggle beyond this point. He won’t be the first one to speak honestly and we shall respect him as our senior colleague. I liked Mzee John Butiime who was our party chairman in FDC. When he defected back to NRM, he called me and said my son I’m sick and I need money for treatment which only Museveni can give me,” said Mwiru who had no kind words for Nsibambi especially after the outgoing Mawokota South MP demanded that NUP top leaders step forward and lead the Protest Vote/Kabanje phase protests instead of hiding and leaving hundreds of people’s children who they incited, to languish in prison when their own children are enjoying good education, pizzas and burgers at foreign Universities.
