Kyagulanyi Not Under Arrest, Police Cite National Security for Home Occupation
The @PoliceUg spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke, has confirmed that police officers have continued to occupy the home of @NUP_Ug president @HEBobiwine since January 15. Authorities say the presence is due to national security concerns, and no specific end date has been given for the occupation.
Rusoke emphasized that Kyagulanyi has not committed any offence. He added that if the need arises, police would formally invite him to record a statement. The spokesperson reassured the public that the action is a preventive security measure and not an arrest.
The continued police presence has drawn attention from citizens and political observers, raising questions about the balance between security measures and individual freedoms. Videos shared online by @PrinceWdavid show the police stationed outside Kyagulanyi’s residence.
Police have called for calm and patience, stating that their actions are aimed at maintaining safety rather than penalizing the NUP leader. The situation remains under observation as authorities decide on the next steps.
